Marginalize and, ultimately, cripple the influence of lobbyists on Capitol Hill While the FairTax will effectively derail the influence of those lobbyists whose sole purpose is to game our incomprehensible and corrupt tax code, that process is a lengthy one. Something else must be done, in an immediate and decisive fashion, to set up a roadblock on either end of Gucci Gulch, to hold to account those lawmakers who are more concerned with the perks of their own career than the needs of the country.

I will propose and fight for tough legislation to censure and remove elected officials caught illegally dealing with lobbyists so that such scandalous activities will never be able to take place again. This corrupting influence has doubled just in the last 8 years, and was an untenable problem even before that. Enough is enough.

If elected to Congress, the only influence that will be accepted in my office is that of you, my constituents. For too long, Capitol Hill has been on the market to the highest bidder. In some perverted rationale, many Congressman curry favor with lobbyists and PAC’s for the purpose of keeping their campaign coffers full so that they can “continue to do the work of the people.” As your congressman, I promise to work for the people now, and will allow that work to speak for itself. If I represent you the way you deserve to be represented, I will not need special interests to buy your vote. I will earn your vote and, more importantly, your trust.
